Victoria

Australia’s most urbanized state; Victoria is Australia’s smallest mainland state.  Located in southeastern Australia, Victoria is bordered by New South Wales to the north, South Australia to the west, the Southern Ocean to the south and the Tasman Sea to the east. Sometimes referred to as the Garden State, the state of Victoria offers a good mix of history, culture, wildlife, stunning rainforests, beautiful beaches and lots of fun.

Melbourne, Victoria’s capital city, is located along the shorelines of Port Phillip. A multicultural, bustling city, Melbourne is also Australia’s sporting city. Every year the roar of engines and squealing tires can be heard as Melbourne hosts, and celebrates, the Australian Grand Prix; for those who enjoy the thrill of horse racing, the Melbourne Cup Carnival consists of four exciting race days, as well as a unique fashion event and fantastic celebrations.  Melbourne’s eclectic mix of cultures has resulted in an array of food choices to tantalize the taste buds. Form quiet cafes, supreme restaurants, Vietnamese delights to Spanish tapas; Melbourne offers food choices for every palate. The climate of Melbourne’s surrounding regions is perfect for winemaking and, consequently, is home to some of Australia’s best wineries.  Approximately an hour and twenty-minute drive from Melbourne, a trip to the Bellarine Wineries gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy fine dining, award winning wines and Bellarine brewed beer.

For visitors who are looking for adventure, and who are eager to explore, ski, surf, enjoy a wildlife adventure or a quiet nature escape, the state of Victoria is prepared. Famous Bells Beach, which hosts the Rip Curl Pro Championship every Easter, offers perfect waves for surfing. Victoria’s High Country offers snow-covered mountains and ideal slopes for skiing and snowboarding, and Victoria’s many state parks and reserves offer great camping sites, nature tails and bush walks.

Just a six-hour drive from Melbourne is Victoria’s Outback. Victoria’s Outback is a mix of arid bush land, salt flats, and red sand dunes that give visitors a taste of Australia’s ‘real’ outback. A trip to Victoria’s Outback allows visitors the opportunity to experience local flora and wildlife.

Whether looking to experience Victoria’s city life or the relaxed lifestyle of its’ outer regions, Victoria is a friendly state for all to enjoy.
